What is Amazoil made of and what are the active components?

Amazoil is a combination of functional oil extracts from cashew nut shell (not the nut itself).

Cashew Nut Shell Oil
The shell of the cashew nut (Anacardium Occidentale L.), contains a liquid known worldwide by its acronym in English CNSL (Cashew Nutshell Liquid). It is an oil that represents 25% of the total weight of the nut. This oil is comprised of anacardic acid (3-n-pentadecylsalicylic acid), Cardanol (3-n-pentadecylphenol) and Cardol (5-n-pentadecylresorcinol).

What are the modes of action?

Antioxidant Activity
The antioxidant activity comes from the phenolic compounds derived from Cashew Nut Shell: Cardanol and Cardol (Amorati, 2001). These phenol derivatives have proved capacity of preventing the production of peroxides by inhibition of the xanthine oxidase enzyme (Trevisani, 2005). These phenolic active compounds also inhibit several types of pro-oxidant enzymes involved in the formation of ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species), and are capable of chelating divalent metal ions such as Fe2+ and Cu2+ that act as potent free radicals (Kubo, 2006; Nagabhushana, 1995).

Anti-inflammatory Action
Anacardic acid also has the ability to inhibit enzymes such as lipoxygenase or prostaglandin synthetase, both mediators in the inflammatory process (Trevisan et al., 2005).

Digestive Health
Cashew Nut Shell Oil has an inhibitory action in assisting with the resistance of bad bacteria and helps promote good bacteria and enzymes. Ingredients of Amazoil are absorbed in the intestines and are not broken down in the acidic environment of the stomach. By improving the digestive enzymes in the intestines Amazoil promotes better nutrient absorption and overall digestive health.

What kind of certifications are associated with the product and its manufacturing?

The manufacturer uses only 100% USDA Certified Organic ingredients and has a very highly specialized qualification of GMP.

Will I see any laxative effects?

Quite the contrary, there will be a positive effect on digestion. Amazoil maintains its biological activity, without having a laxative effect, while helping maintain a healthy digestive system with a higher nutrient absorption rate.

How stable are the active components of Amazoil? How should it be stored and what is the shelf life?

The activity of Amazoil can handle a 3 year shelf life from date of manufacturing. The product should be kept out of direct sunlight and avoid getting wet (high humidity has no effect).

What are some of the benefits that I should expect to see?

Why use Amazoil rather than anti-inflammatory drugs?

Amazoil is an all- natural, organic product which can be taken safely without the side effects of pharmaceutical drugs

Anti-inflammatory drugs have numerous side effects :

  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) include naproxen, ibuprofen, and aspirin.
  • Long-term use of NSAIDs increase a person’s risk of stomach ulcers, which can result in severe, life-threatening bleeding.
  • NSAIDs may also worsen asthma symptoms, cause kidney damage, and increase the risk of having a stroke or heart attack.

  • Corticosteroids, such as cortisol, are a class of steroid hormones that prevent a number of mechanisms involved in inflammation.
  • The side effects of corticosteroids are more likely if taken by mouth. Taking them with inhalers or injections can reduce the risk.
  • Inhaled medications, raise the risk of developing oral thrush. Glucocorticoids can also cause Cushing’s syndrome, while mineralocorticoids can cause high blood pressure, low blood potassium levels, connective tissue weakness, and problems with the levels of acids and alkalis in body tissue.
